World Bank: Guinea becomes the second largest bauxite producer in the world

2020-11-281972Views

According to the latest World Bank rankings, Guinea, the West African country, is now the world's second largest bauxite producer, ahead of China and behind Australia.

According to the data analysis of the world bank's latest report on commodity market prospects, Guinea's bauxite production increased from 59.6 million tons in 2018 to 70.2 million tons in 2019. The 18% growth enables it to seize the market share from China.

China's output last year was almost the same as that in 2018, that is, 68.4 million tons of bauxite. However, since 2015, China's output has barely increased. Guinea will now compete with Australia, which is currently the world's leading country, with bauxite production exceeding 105 million tons in 2019.

By 2029, global bauxite production will come mainly from Australia, Indonesia and Guinea, according to Fitch solutions, a consultancy.
