The open pit of Xigou mining company of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group Hongxing Co., Ltd. is located in the high altitude area of Sunan County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province. The operators have been working in severe climate such as hypoxia, severe cold, ice and snow, dust and so on for a long time, with high labor intensity, low production efficiency and potential safety hazards. Although the mine production has been mechanized, it is still inseparable from the field operation. In order to change this situation, Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group decided to implement the construction of green intelligent mine, build 5g driverless, remote controlled mine cars, electric shovels, cone drills and crushing hammers, and open up the "last kilometer" of intelligent mine construction.

It is understood that the 5g remote control project mainly carries out intelligent upgrading and transformation of a rotary drill, an electric shovel, two mining trucks and a crushing hammer involved in four links of mine perforation, shovel loading, transportation and gravel. Through the construction of artificial intelligence and remote control system, it aims to reduce the production cost and improve the operation efficiency of 5g group.

"We use the characteristics of 5g network with large bandwidth and low delay, combined with edge cloud computing and artificial intelligence, to realize the remote control of equipment and unmanned stope operation, and complete the first complete process of open-air collection, perforation, shovel loading and transportation based on Plateau in China, so as to realize the overall unmanned operation and intelligent operation of the mine."
